The importance of a good work-life balance
Here at Frame we are especially passionate about health and wellbeing - so much so that our Founder and CEO Rachel is about to launch a world-first Wellbeing App for the Fashion and Retail industry alongside The Kite Project. Achieving a healthy work-life balance that leaves us feeling fulfilled in both our personal and professional lives is no doubt on everyone’s list, here are a few simple tips to help you achieve yours…
Get organised
Planning and organisation is the key to managing your time well. By scheduling in time for yourself, social events and regular exercise you’re better able to prioritise work around your existing commitments. We know it can be difficult to fit it all in - taking lunch breaks and using them for exercise or meeting with friends is an easy way to fill your cup without over committing yourself.
Looking after your health
Your health is incredibly important and it’s equally as important to recognise when you need to take a break. If you’re sick, taking the time off work will allow you to recover sooner and prevent more time off in the future.
Regular exercise is a great way to stay well both physically and mentally healthy so find something you enjoy and schedule it in.
Don’t be afraid to unplug
Technology enables us to be constantly available for work which can be detrimental to our mental health and really shift the work-life balance that we work so hard to achieve. Don’t be afraid to set boundaries for yourself by unplugging at night and over the weekends - modern technology means we’re still very accessible in case of emergency so it’s not necessary to check our emails outside of work hours.
Find a job you enjoy
Our work should be fulfilling, and if it’s not - perhaps it’s time to rethink. Whether you need a new challenge, a better culture fit or a total career shift, there are options out there if you’re finding your current job unfulfilling. Enjoying your job goes a long way to helping you achieve the work-life balance that’s right for you.
If you’re finding your current role unfulfilling and would like a confidential chat with one of our account managers about current opportunities, reach us by emailing hello@frameretail.co.nz.
