How to: Perfect your interview attire

Planning what you’ll wear to an interview is a key part of your interview prep. It gives the business you’re interviewing with an insight into your personality and is often used to determine whether a candidate would be the right cultural fit. It is particularly important when interviewing for a role with a fashion brand so we’ve put together a few tips to help you perfect your interview attire:

Do your research

We can’t stress enough how important it is to understand the business and their product offering when interviewing for a role. This will help you get a feel for their aesthetic and how you can align your own personal style with theirs.

Remember: working for a fashion brand means ultimately acting as a brand ambassador- the more closely you align with their brand, the better an ambassador you’ll be in their eyes.

Consider wearing the brand

If you own a piece from the brand you’re interviewing with, it is a great idea to wear it if it works within a professional environment.

Keep it simple

If you don’t own a piece from the brand you’re interviewing with, don’t worry. Keep your outfit paired back, on-trend and as closely aligned to the brand aesthetic as you can - check their website and social channels for insp

Don’t forget your finishing touches

Hair, makeup, nails and footwear are musts when considering your interview attire. Make sure you check out the brands website and social channels to get an understanding of how they present their hair and makeup through their brand imagery and community content. Your footwear choice should be crisp, clean, and complementary to your outfit.

Do the same for video interviews

Many brands are conducting at least part of their interview process via video. We believe it is just as important to feel the part as it is to look the part, so we recommend dressing just as you would for a face-to-face interview- that way you’ll go in with just as much confidence.
