Q+A with Jess
Tell us a bit about your background and what has led you to working as an Account Manager with Frame?
After completing my Commerce studies at Uni, I started a role in Retail Marketing for Quinns. At the time it was such an iconic shopping destination in Christchurch and gave me a true insight into retail, buying, marketing and of course all things fashion. I then moved into wholesale, joining a distribution company of international fashion and lifestyle brands. I grew a lot with the business progressing into a Brand Manager position working between suppliers and retailers across the New Zealand and Australian markets. Earlier this year I connected with Rachel and the team at Frame and appreciated hearing all about the Frame way, it felt like such a natural new opportunity and step to take. Alongside recruiting, I still manage sale and marketing aspects of a few wholesale brands and am loving the dynamics of my new work week.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Being a part of the candidates job journey is so rewarding and we get to meet so many passionate and talented people. I love connecting with both our clients and candidates, helping them find the perfect match.
We know you're living between both Christchurch and Auckland currently - what are your favourite places to eat in either city?
Ah so many good go-tos! My favourite morning spot in Auckland would have to be Candy Shop in Newmarket and then for a nice evening drink and bite to eat I recommend East Street Hall. Brunching in Christchurch I always enjoy Miro or Unknown Chapter. For dinner, I cannot go past King of Snake as an Asian Fusion favourite.
Who do you look to for style inspiration?
Often Scandinavian fashion influencers, their style is always looks super effortless and cool.
Who are your favourite fashion designers or brands?
I shop across a variety of brands - I cannot go past Levi’s denim, Ruby for work pieces and Lululemon activewear (athleisure fan). Poppy Lissiman I also like for a fun accessory and you will always see me wearing a pair of Pilgrim earrings.
Summer is just around the corner! How do you plan to spend your break?
I am a total sunseeker and cannot wait to spend my break lapping up the sunshine either surfing, hiking with friends and hopefully seeing some live music (fingers crossed!).
Favourite book/music/series recommendations?
For the ears, Rüfüs Du Sol’s new album Surrender is soothing yet up-beat. I recently read a book called This One Wild and Precious Life by Sarah Wilson, such an insightful read.
Do you have any goals or intentions for the remainder of 2021?
Definitely to continue to learn and grow in the recruitment space along with focusing on wellness. I have been on a Hot Yoga buzz recently, it has been an a great practise for mindfulness whilst having a good sweat.
