Calling intermediate and senior Garment Technicians! This is your opportunity to join the production team of a leading fashion retailer with a growing footprint across Australia. Working closely with Buyers and the wider Production team, you'll thrive on getting hands on with garment construction and fit, from concept right through to bulk production.
As the ideal candidate, you'll bring sharp technical knowledge, amazing attention to detail, and a natural ability to build strong relationships with suppliers both locally and overseas.
What you will be doing:
Producing accurate, commercially sound technical packs, specifying construction, fabric and accessory details for every style.
Running daily fit sessions with Buyers, capturing fit comments and photos and communicating changes clearly to suppliers.
Sending tech packs to suppliers within the timeframes set for each range.
Checking, approving and filing bulk specs from suppliers, including grading and key size measurements.
Fitting shipment samples ahead of delivery to confirm they meet requirements.
Building strong working relationships with local and overseas suppliers, resolving fit and grading queries as they come up.
Managing the sample wardrobe, including photographing new season styles and keeping filing and admin on track.
Some domestic and international travel as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
3+ years' experience in fashion production, including at least 2 years working with overseas suppliers (China experience highly regarded).
Garment technician experience and a background in volume retail is a strong advantage.
Strong pattern making and fit tech skills, with sound knowledge of garment construction and fabrics across knits, wovens and knitwear.
Firm but fair negotiation skills, and clear, concise written communication.
High attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure and strict deadlines. Intermediate computer literacy, including MS Office and Photoshop Elements.
