Design Developer & Sampling Coordinator, Cooper by Trelise Cooper
Cooper by Trelise Cooper is an iconic New Zealand fashion house, celebrated for expressive design, modern femininity and considered craftsmanship. We are seeking a talented Design Developer & Sampling Coordinator to work on the Cooper brand, on the creation and delivery of seasonal collections.
This is a highly collaborative, hands-on studio role, suited to someone who thrives from initial concept through to production and presentation. The position is available on either a contract or permanent basis, with flexibility to support future brand evolution.
The Role
Work closely with Trelise Cooper on the creative direction and development of each collection for Cooper
Develop design concepts, inspiration boards, colour stories, fabrications and key silhouettes
Source premium and sustainable fabrics and trims, collaborating with international mills on new developments, prints and technologies
Brief patternmakers, sample machinists and cutters on new styles, ensuring design intent and quality are upheld
Manage offshore sample development, including specifications, references and fit feedback
Conduct fit sessions on toiles and prototypes, driving refinements through to final samples
Ensure timely delivery of all sample garments across the range
Lead garment naming, coding, colourways and size ranges
Request and review factory and mill costings, ensuring margin alignment for wholesale and RRP
Create and manage seasonal production and fabric schedules, maintaining accuracy within Indigo 8
Partner with sales teams during seasonal range edits to finalise the collection for market
Support photoshoots and campaigns, including styling input, creative direction and imagery selection
Review and proof lookbooks, order forms and sales collateral ahead of launch
About You
Proven senior-level experience within a premium or luxury fashion environment
Strong technical design and garment development expertise
Confident in managing offshore production and complex timelines
Commercially astute with an editorial design eye
Highly organised, detail-driven and deadline-focused
Passionate about sustainability, quality and storytelling through design
