We have an intermediate Garment Technician role available within a production and supply manufacturer for New Zealand fashion brands in Auckland. Our client has a solid reputation, produces quality garments, and is a leader in their field with offices in Christchurch, Auckland, and Shanghai. 

As a Garment Technician, your purpose is to create and maintain fit standards which are managed by developing specification and grade rules, as well as give technical and engineering support to the merchandise/designer and external suppliers/factories.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the right fit and quality of the garments. We are seeking someone with an understanding of garment and textile construction, pattern making, and grading of specs. 

The key responsibilities include, but will not be limited to: 

  • Ensuring timely, effective, and accurate communication of technical information between customers, colleagues, and suppliers/factories that enable the produced garments to meet the required standards of design, fit, and quality

  • Building and maintaining key relationships with internal and external staff

  • Specifications and Grading: developing specs using samples and briefs as guidelines

  • Sample checking and fitting

  • Providing technical advice and input to the Merchandise Team and suppliers to ensure quality standards are met

  • Presenting all information in a concise and accurate manner to enable the correct production of the garments involved.


The role comes with: 

  • A fast-paced head-office work environment surrounded by a talented, high-performing team 

  • A work-life balance, there is possibility for an experienced GT to work a 4-day week on a pro-rata basis

  • An exciting and dynamic company with great progression opportunities 

As the successful candidate, you will have: 

  • Certificate in Pattern making and Garment construction, or equivalent practical experience

  • Knowledge of garment construction, textile construction, pattern making, and grading

  • Competency with Microsoft Office 

  • Ability to work well under pressure and strict deadlines 

  • A highly organised and detail-oriented approach, able to problem-solve and prioritise 

  • Exceptional communication skills with a knack for building strong relationships
