


Merchandise Manager
Lead a team of 7 buyers across the menswear & childrenswear categories
A lucrative salary is attached to the role, depending on experience
Opportunity to refresh and refocus the menswear category for this brand
A highly sought-after role has just come on the market. We are now hiring a Merchandise Manager to take on two key categories for this brand: menswear and childrenswear. This dynamic role will manage a team of 7 buyers across the two categories, driving business results through the adoption of innovative, best practice, strategic buying practices.
As part of the merchandise leadership team, you will deliver sustainable, profitable growth through a clear, strong buying strategy that supports the board’s merchandise strategy and company vision.
As the successful candidate, you will have 10-15 years of experience in fashion buying/ merchandise planning experience. You will also have:
Proven experience in menswear buying or merchandise planning. You understand the target customers' shopping behaviours
Leadership experience, with the ability to manage and inspire a team
Ability to build and plan a balanced range
Global and local sourcing experience
Ability to identify key market product trends and emerging opportunities, and bring about new brand and product initiatives
Excellent understanding of current and possible future trends, practices, technology, and information affecting Buying: you are market savvy
Key responsibilities in the role include, but are not limited to:
Achieve broad strategic goals and objectives for the category
Scope breakthrough merchandise and business plans that deliver improvement and change for the category
Challenge and correct ineffective buying practices and processes, and act as a change agent for the business
Keep abreast of significant business and organisational trends
Empower others and recognise their success and achievements, building a positive team atmosphere
Ensure that merchandise assortment reflects a balanced range that meets the needs of customers
Develop, in conjunction with the Head of Merchandise, the seasonal buying strategy for your category, providing overarching direction for trends and directional storyboards
Identify sourcing requirements for the company to deliver better value and margin
Direct Buyers to develop assortments that deliver a value proposition that is desirable to our customers
Ensure ranges are developed so that quality, fashion-forward merchandise is selected with a high taste and flair level
